WEEKEND DEBT Pay Off With Upcoming Single 'Why Don't You Realise?'

Weekend Debt first caught our attention back in November with their previous release 'Pomposity', a sure fire indie pop tune if ever there was one.

Recorded at the Chem 19 studios in Glasgow with Jamie Holmes, 'Why Don't You Realise?' is the follow up single from the Glaswegian four-piece.

Pre-Covid, Weekend Debt played a headline show at the legendary King Tut's and used the subsequent lockdown period to write new material, including this single, which is set for release on the 12th of February.

Grant from the band:  "The song was written and recorded at the same time as Pomposity yet feels a different entity. It offered a lot of space to explore new ideas and ways of writing as a band, which has been absolutely beneficial in improving on all our abilities. The song was
written during lockdown about the frustration and jealousy that comes with still ‘fancying’ someone, and seeing them with someone you don’t feel deserves them. We are exploring new ideas (probably due to all of the free time on our hands) and trying to explore new emotions in their lyrics."

The band name refers to the culture of living for the weekend; blowing your pay to live like a rock star for a few days before coming down and being skint for the rest of the week. Frontman Grant embraces his Scottish accent which is loud and clear throughout their songs. Weekend Debt's music is innovative and progressive, a pleasure to listen to, none more so than their new tune 'Why Don't You Realise'.
