Cardiff based indie rock band, Sienna, are set to release their first track of 2021.
Their new single, ‘Barroom Brawls’, is pure naughties indie rock; it features soaring choruses, heavy guitar segments, and driven percussion and showcases echoes of early Arctic Monkeys and a vocal performance reminiscent of Royal Blood.
The band, made up of frontman Daniel Roberts, guitarist George Broadhurst, bassist Taylor Asbridge and drummer Rabbie McAdam, have been crafting their sound since they formed back in 2017.
Diverse is definitely a word that describes the band’s sound and, speaking about the new track, frontman Daniel said: “After coming up with the main guitar hook, it quickly became a question of how many riffs we could fit into a 3 and a half minute track and this was the result. The lyrics were written to complement the chaotic energy of the music.”
The diverse energy of the band likely comes from their broad spectrum of influences; the aforementioned lead guitarist, George Broadhurst, told me that each member of the group brings their own influences into the band’s sonic makeup, giving a notable diversity to the band’s overall sound. According to George, artists that act as key influencers on the band include the likes of Arctic Monkeys and Radiohead, as well as Everything Everything and Thrice. It’s undoubtedly the vast range of influences that are key to giving the band their fresh sound.
Sienna have already played a number of headline shows in their hometown and have also supported a number of other bands, including Bridges and False Advertising.
Going forward, George tells me the band hope to start getting more people listening to their music: “We all really enjoy the music we write so we just want to find people who enjoy it as much as we do.”
