“Insomniac” narrates the darker side of insomnia and how the night can sneak up on you. The lighter side of the song shines throughout this brilliant new track by Cellos. “Insomniac” showcases the band's honest, quirky and real lyrics and serves as a breath of fresh air for the local scene.
Lead vocals from Niall Fenwick merge perfectly with the loud, crashing drums and jangly guitars on this indie- rock song about the darker side of Insomnia. Standing out with their unique blend of sounds from the nineties and the noughties , Cello’s first track from their debut album “Been Here Before” sets the stage for the rest of the tracks from the upcoming album.
Joe Teasdale (lead guitar), Harry Mason (drums), Jack Walker (bass/vocals) and Niall Fenwick (guitar/lead vocals) come together to make Cellos. Forming in the Summer of 2019, originally Niall and Joe worked together on their EP “Sea or Sky” then Harry and Jack joined the fold to complete the four piece. With lockdowns impeding the ability to play live gigs, the band managed to bring their music to fans via several BBC Introducing stations and other indie radio shows.
“Insomniac” follows “Sea or Sky” after a 2 year process in which the band found themselves and perfected their own sound. With a large following in the North East of England and the upcoming debut album, the young band are set on the path of bigger prospects and can really make their mark on the scene.
“Insomniac” and the forthcoming album “Been Here Before” were recorded in South Shields at The Garage Studios during the Summer of 2021 over a few weeks and was mixed and mastered by TruStudios in Chilton. Impressively with the four band members being heavily hungover during the majority of the studio sessions, the band managed to avoid the negative consequences of their antics the night before and somehow it lead to an enhancement of their creativity.
“Insomniac”, the first single by Cellos from their upcoming album “Been Here Before” is out now on all major streaming platforms.
