It has  been fifteen years since The View burst on to the scene with the raucous rock ‘n’ roll rush of their debut album ‘Hats Off To The Buskers’. It’s been five years since their last performance. Now, the Dundee band are flying out of obscurity with exciting new material and a big show at O2 Academy Glasgow.

The Scottish indie rock band are back on the rise with this December show and plans are big for 2023, including the release of a brand-new studio album on Cooking Vinyl. Mixing ragged indie rock anthems with frontman Kyle Falconer’s pure flair for observational lyricism, 2007’s debut album became one of the biggest hits of the year.

It went straight to #1 on the UK’s Official Album Chart – reaching Platinum status in recognition of 300,000 plus sales. It also earned a Mercury Prize nomination and prompted The NME to draw comparisons with such greats as The Stooges and The Libertines.

Now, the group reunite looking to build on their previous successes and aim to rock Glasgow on the 16th of December. Playing with the core of Kieran Webster (bass/vocals) and Pete Reilly (guitar), Kyle Falconer seemed more than happy to return.: “It’s an honour to still be able to play our songs to audiences who love them. The View are probably in the best position they have ever been to play live. Taking some time to refocus has given us all the drive and the hunger to release more hits and blow everyone away again. It’s gonna happen so we hope you’re ready. We are!

Their last gig, 2017’s sold-out homecoming show at Dundee’s Caird Hall prompted some great reviews. The most poignant came from The Courier, which concluded: “The View were on fire! But will they be back? Of course they will.” Now, the staples of mid-2000s indie are ready to reignite a flame that once burned so bright.
