Charlotte Betson set to release new indie pop single 'Important To Me'

Derbyshire indie pop singer Charlotte Betson is set to release her new single ‘Important To Me’ on the 14th of this month. It has been an exciting year for Charlotte after landing a support slot with Scouting For Girls, hitting over thirteen thousand followers on Tik Tok and previously having her music selected as BBC Introducing track of the week.

‘Important To Me’ is a slight change in direction from her previous work and as Charlotte explains, it is partly down to scouse indie pop performer Zuzu: “I actually wrote it after seeing Zuzu live at BBC Introducing Live. She was supporting Catfish (and the Bottlemen) and it was the first time I'd ever heard of her but her show was captivating and it really inspired me to try writing something in the indie kind of style!”.

As with most of us, the recent lockdown has forced us to evaluate parts of our lives and alter our working patterns and Charlotte is no exception: “I definitely saw lockdown as an opportunity. So much more time to try and achieve goals at home. Even though live shows have been on pause, we still have social media and I've been utilising it to grow my following, I recently reached 13.5k followers on Tik Tok with my musical content which definitely helps with exposure and getting more people to hear my music! I have also been writing and recording more and I'm grateful to have had this time, so long as we are all safe!”

Charlotte Betson is due to perform at the Statfold Barn Festival on the 14th of August, the same day as the new single ‘Important To Me’ is released and you can find out more via her Facebook page here.
