Scheduled for release later this year, the second EP from Rhona Macfarlane, “Closing The Window” includes the new single “ Better When You’re Around” which is out now.

Better When You’re Around” is a joyful and uplifting track with sincere, simplistic and sensitive lyrics that highlight what fans can expect from Rhona Macfarlane and her upcoming EP. As the world begins to find its new version of normal living with Covid, the song stands as an honest and stark reminder of what is truly important. Recognising that being around the right set of people, regardless of circumstances is the key to inner happiness. The track provides an authentic intimate feel via live guitar and vocal recordings which give a truly honesty sound to the record.

“Closing The Window” was written by Rhona during a change in her life moving from a student into adulthood. When friends and family seemed further away due to the pandemic and the ability to share music constrained, the tracks were created during moments of solitude and inner reflection.

The songs are deeply personal and reflective and maintain a strong sense of hope and acceptance whilst capturing the themes of loss, vulnerability, family and love. The EP maintains emotional restraint and realism with a nod to the nature of ways in Scotland whilst still giving a sense of romanticism. Written during a hard period for everyone, this collection of songs give a sense of acceptance of what has happened and hope that helps people both remember and move forward at the same time whilst providing some closure and comfort.

Rhona Macfarlane based in Glasgow , is a recent graduate of The Royal Conservatoire Of Scotland and as well as being a talented singer-songwriter she is also a polished musician playing piano, violin and guitar. At an early age Rhona was chosen to take part in the touring project for 14-19 year olds “Hit The Road” following in the steps of Be Charlotte and Lewis Capaldi. As part of the tour Rhona performed live on BBC Radio Scotland on the Janice Forsyth Show.

As we move out of a more restricted way of life Rhona hopes to tour and gig again soon after supporting Siv Jakobsen, Nell Bryden, Martha Reeves and Josh Rouse and performances at The Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival and Celtic Connections.
