After spending seven years away from his solo project, having joined forces with a few various musical projects (including Inuette and Catholic Guilt), 2022 is turning out to be a sapling of new adventures for Jess Porter.

Patterns’ is his first solo release since 2014, and it explores the difficulty of altering our intimate pathways. As with many other queer people, Jess felt like he had a delayed adolescence and therefore took longer time to learn (or unlearn) some unhelpful emotional patterns. The track explores the desire to push through self-imposed walls, even when unsure how to.

Showing no signs of rust from time away from solo music projects, Jess Porter’s first release of the new year perfectly blends synth and vocoder led melodies with a massive rhythm section, completed by the artist’s signature complex guitar work.

It has been a long time coming for Jess and his solo project. After all, his last single ‘Rearview Mirror’ saw widespread attention and acclaim on Soundcloud, so the Melbourne-based artist will be looking to pick up from where he left things all that time ago.

"Patterns" is out now on all major streaming platforms.
