OSM: Hi, where are Sleeptalk from and what instruments do you all play?

H! Thank you for having us! We are from Los Angeles,CA

I am Anthony and I sing in the band.

I am Jason and I play guitar.

I am Justin, I play guitar.

I am Paul, I play bass

I'm Malik and I play drums.

OSM: Your new album ’Drown In A Rainbow’, is out now. What was the songwriting and recording process of the album?

The songwriting for this record was done throughout the course of 2019 - 2021. At the start of 2020 we narrowed down the list from about 50 songs to 20 then to 15. We recorded all the demos at our studio PPPP and shipped out to Joshua Tree every weekend from March 2021 till June 2021 to track the record with our good friend Robert Curtin.

OSM: Do you have any favourite tracks out of the eleven songs that made the album?

Yea, so my favorite song from the record probably has to be Dripping Colors which was one of the first songs we wrote for the record. I was on my way to Coachella in 2019 and i called Justin and was like dude we need a song like the sound (the 1975) and two days later Justin sent over the original demo for it. I wrote the vocals 2 days after, rearranged some things and it came out to what it is today

OSM: What is the general theme of the album, what is its message?

The album is about growing experiences from youth to adulthood. The relationships, the heartache, growing apart, growing into the person you want to be. Love, Sex, Drugs. I guess the general theme of this record is the beautiful things in life that are worth more than words.

OSM: What challenges has the band faced since launching your career?

I think the pandemic was one of the hardest things we have faced. We started off the year with a sold out show in San Diego and our hometown of LA  and were gearing up to head out on tour and play the songs off our Desert Daze EP that was released in July of 2019 and get ready to release 2 EPs to finish off the year. When the pandemic hit we didn't know when we would play again, if it was good to release new music etc.

OSM: What are the plans for the year ahead for yourselves?

So we havent released this information yet. But, there is a Deluxe version of “Drown In A Rainbow” that includes 4 additional songs. I believe the 1st of the 4 will be released in late July. Other than that just play shows and record our new EP.

OSM: If you could change anything about the industry what would it be?

Go back to the old days and discover artists because they are good and not just something that “Sells”

OSM: If you could share the stage with another band or performer who would it be?

Blink 182 (Original lineup) Angels and Airwaves or The 1975

OSM: Who are some of the main influences of your music?

Blink 182,  Angels and Airwaves,  The 1975, Taking Back Sunday and many more

OSM: What songs are on your playlist right now, which songs are you into at the moment?

Honestly, over the last 6 months or so I haven't really been listening to a lot of music. I'm going through one of those spurts where I'm just not into it.
