The Divisions: Too Good Too Soon

The mark of a great song is often when it grabs you by the scruff of the neck with its opening chords. This is the case with 'Too Good Too Soon', the latest release from London's The Divisions.

Making way to a crescendo of drums and a silky lead guitar, by the time the lyrics mention a 'Velvet Morning' we are hooked.

The guitar sound here is the sweet spot; a distorted and blissful refrain that dominates the track to great effect. A confident, thick sound that has to be even more immense in a live setting.

The Divisions have a mixed range of influences from Jimi Hendrix though to Joy Division - with echoes of both being represented on 'Too Good Too Soon'.

Formed in 2019, The Divisions are made up of Jim (Vocals/guitar), Will (Lead guitar extraordinaire), Ben (Bass) and Jakeem (drums). Forging full songs from early bedroom demos, the band were illuminating the London music scene pre-Covid - with gigs at Water Rats and The Spice Of Life being particular highlights.

'Too Good Too Soon' was recorded at Attic Sound in London with Dave Mountain as producer. The bands energetic sound has been capture to perfection.

Will: "The song is about getting into a relationship and having it be better than any one that has been before. But this leaves us paranoid if things are too good too soon and if the relationship will just fizzle out as fast as it burned"

With a new website (that is stylishly designed) and a recently launched Youtube channel, The Divisions are upping their game in 2021 - as evidenced on 'Too Good Too Soon'.
