Brit-rock icons Hurricane #1 have announced a string of live shows for the first part of 2023 including stops in Oxford, Manchester, London and Hull. This follows the release of their new single ‘Autopilot Man’ and the announcement of a new album, ‘Backstage Waiting To Go On’, which is slated for release later this year.
Hurricane #1 formed in 1997 and the band quickly found themselves signed to Alan McGee’s Creation Records. Ex-Ride member Andy Bell, who went on to join Oasis, was one of the founding members of Hurricane #1 alongside frontman Alex Lowe. Their million-selling self-titled debut album spawned the hit singles ‘Just Another Illusion’ and ‘Step Into My World’. The band split after a successful second album, ‘Only The Strongest Will Survive’, which was a period that saw the band perform on Top Of The Pops and TFI Friday.
Alex Lowe launched a successful solo career before the band reformed several years later. They released the notable and poignant single ‘Think Of The Sunshine’. This reformation also saw the band perform a sold-out tour of Japan and the release of third album ‘Melodic Rainbows.’
Since 2019, the line-up features Alex Lowe, Chris Campbell and Stuart Fletcher of The Seahorses. These new live shows are sure to delight long-term fans of the band as well as an army of newer fans, who have discovered Hurricane #1 just this year.
