The highly talented Hillary Capps has released her new single 'Smokescreen', captivating us here at Our Sound Music with its pure, bittersweet emotion. This is the second single to be taken from her upcoming EP 'From The Quiet Of The Underworld' (the first being the excellent 'Montage') and leaves the listener with eager anticipation for that collection of songs.

Capps' vocal is authentic and heartfelt; the listener is drawn into her story via this and makes 'Smokescreen' a captivating listen. The production adds to the world that she has created here and overall it is an extremely emotionally raw song that many listeners will be able to relate to.

Written by Hillary Capps and with excellent production from Tiger Darrow, 'Smokescreen' is a fantastic starting point if you are yet to discover her music. Alternative-pop is a keen genre at the moment and this release is a welcome addition. to that. Making her own mark with this release, Capps demonstrates how she has previously been included on several official Spotify Playlists including numerous official Spotify Playlists including “Chill Vibes”, “Fresh Finds: Pop” and “Discover Weekly”.

Drawing inspiration from artists such as Sara Bareilles, Laura Marling and Lennon Stella,  Hillary Capps has achieved a great deal in recent memory. She has performed at several festivals including SXSW and has supported both The Coronas and Lola Marsh. In 2020 she released her album 'The Way Back Home' and also released the single 'Nobody Told Me' which was featured in the promotion surrounding the movie 'The Business Of Birth Control'.

As previously mentioned, Capps released 'Montage' prior to this new track and both will feature on her upcoming EP. About the EP, the singer says: "The melancholic EP traverses themes of identity,
ephemerality, time, death, simple pleasures and letting go of societal pressures." We can't wait.
