We love Televised Mind here at Our Sound Music.  Under the stewardship of the talented songwriter and performer Ste Walker, they have never failed to impress with their brand of accessible punk. Now, Televised Mind  have unleashed their latest offering: 'Obscene Scenes.' The track is a raw, energetic burst of post-punk ferocity, delivered with a sense of urgency that’s impossible to ignore. From the moment the song kicks in, it’s clear this band has no interest in being subtle - they aim to disorient, disturb, and electrify.  'Obscene Scenes' embodies that frantic, “on the edge” vibe of classic post-punk, but it also incorporates elements of noise rock and indie grunge, giving it a contemporary edge that feels refreshing without losing the genre’s spirit. Simply put, amongst a genre that is heavily saturated, Televised Mind stand apart.

The opening riff here is a jagged, distorted sound, instantly setting the tone of tension. It’s uncomfortable, but in the best way possible, much like the feeling you get when a song or album begins to tap into something primal. The rhythm section drives the track forward with relentless, jittery percussion that almost sounds like it’s about to fly off the rails, and it’s paired with a bassline that feels thick and ominous; constantly pushing the listener towards the chaos that the song threatens to unleash.

Vocally, the track is equally compelling. Ste Walker's voice is a blend of disillusionment and defiance, straddling the line between melodic delivery and sheer, unrestrained shouting. There’s a sense of frustration in the lyrics-this is a song about the distortion of reality, the vulgarity of modern life, and the confusion that comes with living in a world that seems to be crumbling in on itself. Lines like “We’re all just watching obscene scenes ..On repeat” evoke an image of society numbed by its own excesses, and the song captures that discomfort.

The production is sharp and intentionally raw, enhancing the sense of urgency and emotional intensity. There’s a lo-fi quality to the sound that makes it feel immediate and real, as if the song was captured live, just as the band intended. It’s not polished or over-produced, which works perfectly in Televised Mind’s favour, allowing the visceral energy of the track to take hold.

'Obscene Scenes' is a stark commentary on the disconnect and absurdity of modern life, and it’s a track that refuses to let you look away. It’s uncomfortable, challenging, and beautifully messy, much like the world it’s speaking to. Televised Mind has delivered a song that’s as audacious as it is captivating, making it an essential listen for anyone interested in the intersection of punk energy and contemporary angst.
