We have covered the talented Milyam extensively here at Our Sound Music as of late, so it only seemed natural to chat with the artist about her single 'Lost In The Jungle'.
“Lost in the Jungle” feels like stepping into a fully realized sonic environment. At just over two minutes, “Lost in the Jungle” is concise yet incredibly potent...
MILYAM: "Thank you for the beautiful words. For me, emotion always comes first. I wanted listeners to feel—not just hear—this record, for it to truly resonate in their hearts. This song isn’t about escaping; it’s about navigating the emotional jungle, about not letting the shadows steal your faith in a new beginning. Sometimes we get stuck in moments that are already over. This track is about finally closing that chapter, saying goodbye, and trusting that the most beautiful things are waiting just beyond the horizon. And because a story only needs to be as long as the truth it holds, I didn’t want to stretch the track just to fit conventional expectations. The goal was to create a concentrated emotional experience that leaves a lingering cinematic afterimage. When you say exactly what needs to be said, silence becomes the perfect outro."
Your music always feels like it’s painting vivid scenes... How do you sense when a song has reached that cinematic level?
MILYAM: "Whenever I write a song, I pour myself back into a deeply personal, life-changing moment. I fully surrender to that raw emotion all over again. The story always comes alive first, and the music finds its place around it. I sense that a song is complete when the sound finally becomes a perfect mirror for what I feel inside. When the playback perfectly captures the heartbeat of that memory in my chest, I know my story has been shared."
As someone who treats music as world-building, how does “Lost in the Jungle” fit into the broader universe you’re creating as an artist?
MILYAM: "I view every track as a distinct chapter in a larger narrative—a collection of life lessons and steps toward personal and artistic evolution. Each song is a page in an ongoing book I am currently writing. My goal is to make this universe as beautiful as possible, because I believe there is no limit to what you can achieve when you treat your artistry as a continuous journey toward refinement and harmony."
Your voice floats through the production in such an organic, enveloping way. How did you approach the vocals?
MILYAM: "The vocal performance is the absolute foundation of every song for me. Every inflection, every breath, and every subtle nuance in my voice is designed to translate the exact emotion living in my heart. My music relies heavily on deeply personal narratives, imagery, and metaphors. I approach my vocal delivery and the arrangement with the intention of creating a resonant space for the listeners—allowing them to reflect on their own cherished memories, process the defining moments of their lives, and perhaps find their own way out of an emotional labyrinth toward a fresh start."
The song seems to draw a parallel between literal jungle imagery and emotional or psychological “lostness.” What shaped the lyrics?
MILYAM: "It is actually less about the 'lostness' and more about the courage to find a new path. This song is a personal victory—the realization that the confusion is behind me. It’s about the necessity of stepping into the unknown, trusting that the path will appear beneath your feet as you walk. It might sound like a simple truth, but I truly believe that the most beautiful dawns follow the darkest nights."
In a fast-paced world, what role do you see your music playing for listeners who feel “lost” themselves?
MILYAM: "While reviewers often use the word 'escapism,' I actually see it quite differently. My music isn’t a place to hide from reality; it is a space to finally lean into it and process those feelings. In a world that constantly demands our attention, I want my records to offer an immersive sonic retreat. For listeners who feel lost, I hope this track gives them permission to simply be with their most vulnerable emotions without judgment, allowing them to close an old chapter and confidently step into their new era."
What was the most challenging or rewarding part of bringing “Lost in the Jungle” to life?
MILYAM: "The most challenging part is always the emotional immersion. To make the record feel authentic, I had to completely sink back into the shadows of a memory that I ultimately had to let go of. But the most rewarding moment is always that final playback. When the sound in the studio perfectly echoes the raw feeling I carry in my heart, I know the emotion has been truly captured."
Looking ahead, what can we expect next from you?
MILYAM: "I am currently deeply focused on creating my upcoming album, building out the next chapters of this sonic world. We are also actively planning a full US tour. My biggest goal right now is bringing these raw, intimate emotions to the live stage and sharing that energy directly with the listeners. We are building MILYAM EMPIRE to be a truly global brand, expanding our vision step by step. I am so excited for everyone to hear—and feel—what’s next."
Finally, for emerging artists inspired by your path: What advice would you give to someone trying to forge their own immersive artistic identity in today’s music landscape?
MILYAM: "Trust your own vision and listen to your heart. It is so important to forge a path that feels genuinely right for you. Consistency is everything. There will inevitably be moments when inspiration fades or your energy runs low, and that is perfectly natural. Give yourself the grace to pause when you need it, but always keep moving forward on your journey. Keep the focus on your own evolution—strive to be a better version of yourself today than you were yesterday, and avoid the trap of comparing your path to someone else's. Commit to learning, always do the absolute best you can with the resources you have right now, and above all, fiercely believe in your dream."
