Introducing: Collapse The Arcade

Published on 9 January 2021 at 18:47

York band Collapse The Arcade are no strangers to BBC local radio after earning airplay on both BBC Norfolk and BBC Devon & Cornwall as well as being favourites of hometown based Jorvik Radio.

Coming together from open mic nights around York, the five piece played a pre-lockdown gig at the city’s Plonkers venue to great acclaim as well as releasing two singles - ‘Spirits’ and ‘Smoke Screens And Mirrors’ - the latter described by one fan:

"Reminds me of my happy school days when I had no responsibilities & spent my Saturday job money on make-up, music & clothes".

Their music is catchy indie-rock. Their first release ‘Spirits’ is self deprecating in its lyrics with cries of  “we are, we are losers” while more recent release ‘Smoke Screens And Mirrors” is more straightforward indie rock with a touch of adventure and romance.

Collapse The Arcade are one of the North’s most promising under the radar bands and ones to watch throughout 2021.
