Scottish singer-songwriter, James Mackenzie, has continued to develop his folk inspired sound in recent weeks and has his eyes set firmly on the future

Originally from the Highland capital Inverness, James has been living between Germany and the UK for the last couple of years and hopes to make 2021 his year. He certainly started it well, and had his single, ‘Champion’ named as Single of the Week on BBC Radio Scotland’s Afternoon Show. As well as this praise, James has also been featured on numerous German stations and publications.

James’ latest single Where You Are Going’ was released on 5 March this year and showcases a similar folk inspired sound to the one present on its predecessor, the aforementioned ‘Champion’. Specifically, his latest track features a soft and dreamy melodic composition, which gives the song an extra layer of complexity.

Fans can expect more to come too; James has been crowd-funding the production of his debut album and plans to release it in the summer. On the album, titled ‘The Honeymoon’, there are songs James co wrote with Blue October’s Matt Novesky and Birds of Tokyo’s Glenn Sarangapany.

The album is due out in early June and Our Sound Music can’t wait to see where James goes next.

‘Where You Are Going’  is available to stream now.
