The Heavy North have today released their newest single ‘Awake’, taken from their debut album Electric Soul Machine. Following the releases of singles ‘Darkness In Your Eyes’ and ‘No Good,’ which saw impressive radio plays from BBC Introducing, ‘Awake’ is the latest politically-charged single from the Liverpudlian five-piece.
"Although we're not really a political band, now more than ever we're each seeing how so many things are dividing people - things like money, religion, race, gender, sexuality, social media etc. and even the response to COVID" said frontman Kenny Stuart.
"Awake” talks about the "woke" movement, but also about recognising that problems can’t always be solved by getting offended or expecting the world to change around them. If anything, this can often create a bigger divide".
"Instead, it's about finding that common ground and the things that unite us, as most of the time we're all in the same boat and face similar problems".
‘Awake’ is the epitome of a song that offers insight to someone’s inner anger and frustration. With its heavy rock attitude and violently booming bass, the latest single seems to get a lot of problems off the band’s chest.
After taking one listen, you will immediately feel the urge to listen again and again until your ears fall off. It is loud and racy but equally addictive, we recommend you check this one out for yourself.
'Awake' is out now on all major streaming platforms.
