Welcome to this week’s OSM single round up. Here, we’ve compiled a new list of great tunes which we hope will give your week a boost. As usual, we’ll start with the Single Of The Week, which comes from Vacant Weekend. It’s called ‘All Over’ and is the second debut single to feature on this week’s list. The group - who come from Cumbria - share a love of ‘70s funk and noughties indie; a love showcased on this tune. A funky rhythm section carves a space from which a catchy vocal comfortably guides the tune’s sound. With big sets at a couple of festivals in the pipeline, Vacant Weekend will be looking to set their profile on fire this summer.

Next up this week is a debut release from a band based in London. The group are called First Day of Spring and their new track, ‘Stupid’ introduces their dream-pop orientated and jangly sound.  Clean and subtle instrumentation creates a soft foundation for the tune’s lyrics, which explore the  challenges of friendships. It’s a great introduction from a band who already seem settled in their sound, and we can’t wait to hear more...we’re sticking with dreamy rhythms for this next one, which comes from Bessie Turner. The Suffolk-based singer has released ‘It Was Nothing’ - her first drop of 2022. Though dreamy at its core, the track features elements of gritty indie-rock. Her misty and delicate vocal is often accompanied by pounding drums and distorted guitar riffs crafting an explorative and original sound...next this week is the new drop from Wild Horse. The Sussex-based band released ‘Joy Ride’ on Friday and have continued their development from their 2021 album. The track’s light and funky guitar lines, along with its chunky bass hooks, exhibit the band’s pop influences, and see them in full light-hearted and summery flow ahead of a string of releases coming later this year...moving onto this week’s next tune now, which comes from the Nottingham-based LNC. Their new track - titled ‘Circles’ - showcases the group’s indie rock sound. Driven drums and raucous guitar riffs encircle the tune’s gritty vocal, the product of which is a soaring and restless song that sees the band enter 2022 with a bang...next is the new tune from Columbia Mills. The group released ‘Nevada’ recently, a track which further adds to the band’s 2022 run of singles, which have seen the band go from strength to strength. This track showcases a slightly different sound to the dreamy indie we saw on its predecessor, and reasserts their electronic and dance infused makeup...finally for this week is the new tune from Jonny Morgan. The tune - named Wired - is a dreamy and charming dive into his War On Drugs-inspired sound. With soft vocals and gleaming guitar lines, the track molds an inescapable soundscape as consuming as it is vulnerable. With sets at Glastonbury and a debut EP steady under his belt, ‘Wired’ will no doubt push Morgan further in the London indie scene.
