Leeds indie psyche trio The Calls have announced that their latest EP, 'Setting Sun', will be released on the 4th of November. The following week, on the 11th, the band will perform at Leeds' 360 Club at The Lending Rooms with support from High Windows, My Nose Is Pierced and Hobbies. The gig acts as an official EP launch show and is sure to be a cracking night. Tickets are on sale now here.
'Setting Sun' contains six tracks and is the third EP from The Calls, following up 2020's 'Fall Inside Again.' Songwriter and vocalist Tom Fuller says of the upcoming EP: “We wanted to create a different world to the last EP, one that was brighter, warmer and more optimistic than our previous work. We introduced more electronic sounds, synths and drum loops and I think this adds to the mysterious sound of the record as it’s neither a guitar record nor an electronic record. Lyrically, I intended it to be quite hopeful in a time when hope is scarce, and I’d like to think this comes through.”
The Calls have released a video for the title track of the Setting Sun EP
The Calls are defiantly DIY. Heavily plugged into the thriving Leeds music scene, the trio actually record their music in a converted barn. Songwriter Tom Fuller is a clever lyricist often using cryptic wordplay while lead guitarist Will Johnson and bassist Marcell Haslewood combine their respective sounds to great effect.
The tracklist for the Setting Sun EP is as follows:
Until It's Time
Into The Day
Out Of Reach
Way Far Out
