Cat Ryan have been steadily gaining attention from the music press,  ardent music fans and BBC Radio 1 thanks to their distinct sound, which combines memorable melodic hooks with art-rock and shoegaze influences, creating songs that are unmistakably creative and artistic while still being universally appealing to fans of new music.

Lost My Connection is the band’s fifth single and it depicts the demise of a relationship that was unable to overcome the difficulties of long distance, according to Mary-Anne (singer, writer, and multi-instrumentalist). The song's lyrics are written from the perspective of a person who is trying to figure out why their relationship isn't working out, and they relate to feeling hopeless as they become more and more near to giving up totally.

I really enjoyed the nearly five-minute-long song, and it never seems to get boring with the consistent percussion and guitars. The upbeat melodies and steady guitar riffs in this song may symbolise the person's wish to make light of the circumstance or carry optimism for a happier future by masking the tragic undertones of this breakup story.

Have a listen and think for yourself about what I have said and if you enjoy it that much then lucky for you Cat Ryan is scheduled to perform at The Waiting Room in London on December 3, 2022 and have tour dates in the spring of 2023. For fans of the likes of Hippo Campus and Two Door Cinema Club, enjoy. The track has already received airplay from BBC Radio 1 and it easy to see why.
