Many of you reading this will have heard of Daisy Gill. We here at Our Sound Music have been championing the Liverpool-based singer for a couple of years now, reviewing many of her previous releases. Daisy has also appeared on the UK version of the hit TV series The Voice which brought her mainstream attention and a huge platform to display her incredible talent.
'Dream', Daisy Gill's new single, is a shimmering indie-pop gem that balances ethereal vibes with heartfelt sincerity. The track showcases Gill’s knack for crafting introspective lyrics wrapped in lush, atmospheric production. Her delicate yet commanding vocals float over dreamy synths and subtle percussion, creating a soundscape that feels both intimate and expansive. The song’s theme of chasing aspirations while grappling with self-doubt resonates deeply, with lines like “I’m reaching for the stars, but they’re slipping through my hands” hitting an emotional chord.
Daisy Gill "gets it" as a songwriter. The chorus here comes in at around the forty-five second mark, grabbing the listener by the scruff of the neck early on and drawing them into what she has crafted. Daisy Gill's vocal is soulful and authentic. It is a rare voice that conveys sincerity and does the lyrics justice.
The production on 'Dream' is polished in the way that pop music ought to be. This tack is a compelling listen for fans of introspective pop. It’s a promising glimpse into Daisy Gill's evolving artistry, leaving the listener curious for more - with the bridge section towards the end of the song in particular bringing an emotional climax to what is quite frankly an astonishing release.
