Last week the Dundee-based duo SIRENS released their debut single, 'Envy'. Discovering new artists, especially at the start of their career, is one of our joys here at Our Sound Music and this release fails to disappoint in all areas.
Immediately atmospheric. the song opens with a light vocal melody and the introduction of the soothing sound of morning birds. Lindsey's full vocal makes an appearance; ethereal, soothing and utterly captivating. The whole journey here can be described as soothing. Musically, the production is something else - perfect mixed and with layer upon layer of ambience to enjoy. 'Envy' literally invites several listens just to grasp the scope and depth on offer.
About the track, the talented duo said: "Envy was written from a place of stress and chaos, capturing the boiling point of frustration, looking for
an outlet to release a racing mind without putting a burden on loved ones." This provides further insight into the perfectly crafted track.
SIRENS clearly have an unique chemistry
SIRENS, Marc and the aforementioned Lindsey, met at University. Their chemistry is obvious even from this debut release. The collaboration is honest, authentic and utterly compelling. With both members seemingly bringing different qualities to the table. the partnership is fresh and exciting. SIRENS are a welcome addition to the Scottish independent scene and if their subsequent releases are as on target as 'Envy', they may well be forerunners.
