Regent Set To Release New Single 'Today' With Album To Follow

Published on 5 October 2020 at 12:33

Regent follow up their earlier release Dirty Little Sinner with new slow burning tune Today (released on Friday). A song about heartache and loss, it is reminiscent of Richard Ashcroft’s Paint The Night With Colour in places and even upon a first listen, it can be heard that Today is a special song.

Speaking about the track, Regent frontman Ben Rooke says: “I wanted to sit and write a song about heartache and the pain of losing someone. Whether it be a lover, mother, father, sister or a brother.... We all go through low times in our life, and in the middle of a pandemic, I wanted to create an anthemic track that everyone in pain can relate to.”

Today was only recorded last month with Fraser Smith (Shed Seven) handling the production. The band are inspired by the songwriting of The Rolling Stones and The Beatles, with album Just A Revolution set to be released in early 2021.

Regent have received recent airplay across the globe with plays from BBC Introducing, Radio X, Amazing Radio, and even Sirius XM in the USA. Hailing from Southampton, local shows are got tickets and no doubt the band will hit the road next year in support of the new album where possible.

We will give Today the full review treatment this Friday in our weekly single releases round up but rest assured it is an exciting addition to the bands previous releases.
