Georgie 'At Home' Online Show Review

2020 is almost at its climax, thankfully, and for musicians around the globe, it's been a rollercoaster ride without fan interaction. Instead, this year has seen an abundance of live streams to replace gigs during the pandemic. The latest musician to jump on the bandwagon was Georgie.

Earlier in the year, Georgie released her first studio album, 'At Home,' which we reviewed without hesitation. The album is still one of the best I have appraised since the start of my journey at Our Sound, and I leaped at the chance to hear her perform this meritorious release, uncut.

The soulful swirls are still prevalent, but with an infusion of rawness that binds the best components of the album together perfectly. I always envisaged that this album would suit a remote location, so it was a surprise to me to see Georgie play to a black background, but still, a performance that blew me away.

'At Home' is one of those albums that you must listen to from start to finish and seeing Georgie in the flesh brings the story to life. You can see her passion through the entirety of the show, and it's a must-watch for music fanatics in search of a dopamine hit, waiting for the return of concerts.

It was also a pleasant surprise to see Georgie sing some of her other songs, including 'Wildcat' as requested by a fan. Every number the British singer pulled out the bag in her stream, she performed at premium quality.

Like many of us, Georgie has had a tough year.  Her release of 'At Home,' however, proves to be a catalyst for her musical success moving forward. As day endlessly blurred into one another and chaos unfolded in the world outside her window, the whirlwind of thoughts in Georgie's head poured out like diary entries into new songs both starkly honest and radiantly soul-baring.

“Music washes away from the soul the dust of everyday life." This quote remains a perfect statement, to sum up, Georgie's debut release. The live version of this album perhaps exceeds the quality of the studio version, and it would be great to see some of these songs released on Spotify in their raw format. ****
