Bishop’s Stortford based duo, Hyde Away, have added to the two singles they dropped in 2020 with brand new track, Hurt(LISTEN HERE)

The track itself is over two years old and has been performed live by the band multiple times. According to he the twosome, they have just been waiting for the ideal time to drop it.

The duo take their inspiration from the modern musical landscape and have sited acts such as Courteeners and Catfish &The Bottlemen as key influencers behind their punchy, pop-rock sound.

Echoes of Catfish & The Bottlemen are particularly prevalent in their latest single, with the track showcasing big choruses and extended guitar segments as well as a powerful and meaningful vocal performance. The line: This is going to hurt, I have no doubt”, for example, succeeds in getting across the emotion felt by the singer as he’s urging the subject of the song to leave her partner. It’s the raw and heartfelt vocal performance that, in my view, pushes the track forward.

The duo, made up of members Conor Andrews and Max Hunt, have both had successes with previous bands (Riviera and The Pineapple Arcade) and have supported the likes of Larkins and Sarpa Salpa. The pair met at a gig and they went to with mutual friends and soon struck a bond.

The band released two singles in 2020 (In With The Sharks and Promises) before heading back into the studio and experimenting with different musical styles. They are now looking forward to releasing their new developed in the coming months.

The band say ‘Hurt’ offers a glimpse of what is to come in their planned future releases, of which there will be four in the next year.

You can stream the new track now right here.
