As far as debut releases go, 'Summer Girl' the first output from Sleeping Together is up there with the best of them. Having already received support from John Kennedy and Radio X, we here at Our Sound Music are also impressed with 'Summer Girl'.
Sounding fresh and altogether sparkling, the track is a perfect late summer anthem. As melodic as it is catchy, 'Summer Girl' brings a vibe like no other to the fore.
Formed during the pandemic era, Sleeping Together hail from across the North-West.. Sounding more like a sun-kissed south-coast band, there is nothing grey or grim here. The four-piece have impressively played sold-out shows at Jimmy's in Liverpool and Wax and Beans in Bury and that was without releasing a note.
'Summer Girl' is the first of several releases that will culminate in an EP. Frontman Alexander said: "Summer Girl was inspired by a short and sweet summer romance. At the end of summer, the couple agreed to go their separate ways. Like the romance, Summer Girl is short, bright and sweet, capturing the highs of a British summer in its emphatic chorus. However, much like the British summer, this romance was rained off too soon. These fleeting glimpses of a love, destined for rapidly approaching heartbreak, are conveyed perfectly through Summer Girl’s climbing vocals.”

Sleeping Together are going all out with this debut release and rightfully so. A fun sounding music video is on the way and the band certainly seem focussed. 'Summer Girl' is a tremendous debut single that lifts the lid on modern indie-pop and sets a new standard.
