Following on from his well received sophomore album, Canadian-born Scott Helman has dropped a new and varied single.

The track, titled ‘New Friends’, sees the singer/songwriter make use of subtle and impactful sounds and further showcases his ability to conjoin both pop and alternative music.

The singer was tipped for big things back in 2016, when his EP ‘Augusta’ gave him his first break and, with the platform the EP gave him, he was able  to establish himself as one of Canada’s brightest prospects. Since then, Helman has received an abundance of award nominations, been certified platinum three times and has toured with the likes of Vance Joy and Shawn Mendes.

The new track pushes him on further from the sound he crafted in his formative stages and, in many ways, it builds on 2020’s LP ‘Nonsuch Park (sa)’ which exhibited more alternative sounds. The track is testament to Helman’s development as an artist and ensures he is free from being pigeonholed.

‘Old Friends’ also comes with the promise of new music this year and fans of the singer will be keen to see where he goes next.

The singer’s impacts don’t stop with his music either; in 2019 he invited his fans to help him draw more attention to the world’s climate crisis by signing his ‘Evergreen Manuscript’ and he hopes to soon deliver the document to politicians and leaders around the world.

'Old Friends' is out now on all major streaming services and you can listen to the track via our embedded link below.
