John Power of Cast has today released 'Grounded Truth', a one-off solo single. Released on Alan McGee's It's Creation Baby label, this stripped-back, intense and frankly sublime single release is the soundtrack to a short film showcasing the new adidas Spezial collection (view here).
'Grounded Truth' is songwriting at its most pure. With just an acoustic guitar, subtle piano and Power's unmistakably tuneful vocal, an intimate atmosphere has been crafted by Power whose songwriting as the frontman on Cast needs no introduction.
On the message of his new solo single, Power said: "Enjoyment, thrills and experience are all very much a part of growing up. You want it and you are hungry for it and you put yourself in a line of fire for it....To my younger self I’d say I probably should have taken my foot off the pedal a bit. It’s funny how life passes by whilst you’re living it.”
The film in which 'Grounded Truth' provides the soundtrack to documents John recording the track at the world-famous Abbey Road Studios. Power was head-hunted by the curator of adidas Spezial, Gary Aspden. Aspden felt that John Power was the perfect fit for their latest campaign and who are we to disagree. The short film is nothing short of incredible.
