Fresh from delivering (by all accounts) ICONIC sets at Reading and Leeds Festival, Brighton-based quartet FUR have announced their debut album “When You Walk Away”, coming to an indie record store near you in mid-November.

After signing to 777 Music in the Autumn of 2020, having made the best of the first lockdown that gripped the UK, FUR have rapidly made a name for themselves. DIY, CLASH and Dork have all sang their praises, whilst the band have also racked up over 325,000 monthly listeners on Spotify. The outfit’s last release, EP “Facing Home Mixtape”, is a vibrant melange of coming-of-age anthems. With the band seeking inspiration from the likes of the Strokes and the Velvet Underground, whilst also taking life lessons from Scottish novelist JM Barrie, album “When You Walk Away” is bound to be something special.

Along with the eagerly-awaited announcement, the quartet also released title track “When You Walk Away Pt 1”. Opening with grand guitar, soon after met with a barrage of steady drum fills, the track is coated with Will Murray’s “Gallagher-esque” vocals, perhaps with a touch of 60s psychedelia. Whilst the track unequivocally has a didactic lesson, subtly lecturing the listener on the art of love and loss, the thing that sticks in the mind is the single’s invigorating “bounciness”, fit for any sweatbox or festival stage in the country. The track is accompanied by a crisp and retro video, with black and white, rotating visuals. A classy aesthetic for a classy track.

So mark your calendars for November the 5th for FUR’s inaugural album release. But frankly, if the album builds the hype that it deserves, you won’t be able to miss it.
