‘So Cool’ is the new single from Low Girl and the title track of their upcoming second EP, set for release on 4th March 2022. The track is yet another irresistible display of alt-pop, fresh out of Hemel Hempstead.
Having achieved great things with their previous release ‘Big Now’, thanks to being playlisted by BBC 6Music, along with help from Radio X and DIY Magazine, Low Girl are heading into 2022 with a profusion of optimism as they seek new heights, boundaries, and limits.
The lyrics of the latest single find Low Girl continuing the themes across her debut EP. Feelings of loneliness, self-worth, mental health and the constant trials and tribulations of finding one’s identity growing up is encapsulated in this soul-stirring release.
Specifically, in this case the experience of wanting someone seemingly unattainable, as Low Girl explains:
“There was a girl I liked who really knew how to switch it on and off, flirting and then recoiling. I’d end up feeling pretty disorientated, trying to maintain some sense of composure and resolve but failing miserably. I knew none of it was good for me, but my tendency to be self-destructive made it inevitable.”
With a slot already confirmed at SXSW, a support tour with Pom Poko and a run of headline dates in February and March 2022 is firmly shaping up to be Low Girl’s year.
