Marlee is a self confessed real life cartoon character. Larger than life, her persona is as theatrical as it is endearing. Her new single, ‘Room Of Mine’ is out this Friday, a song recorded during the first lockdown.
Arctic Monkeys’ live record charts at 3, as well as making us miss gigs even more
The Islas give us an emotional ballad-esque tune in Last Time Forever, a tender and emotional song that shows a different side to the band that brought us previous single Close. Last Time Forever is perfect for this time of year - a familiar love song that has warmth. Best listened to when you’re half way through a bottle of Jack Daniels Honey on a dark, cold winter's night. A turning point for the band and our Single Of The Week. VIEW THE MUSIC VIDEO HERE.
Not many bands can boast that they have received radio play before even playing a gig but that’s what Radegunds - named after the smallest pub in their native Cambridge - achieved with first release ‘Regular Thing’.
Twitter can be a polarising place - amongst the trolls and troublemakers there are subcultures of all walks of life - none more vibrant that ‘Indie Twitter’ - a collection of likeminded accounts championing new music that interact with each other in their own community on the micro-blogging platform. One account has stood out - Brits & Pieces - with their sharing of band merchandise and stories of the heyday of Britpop and the 1990’s.
The Islas first caught our eye back in September on Close, an energetic indie rock n roll tune that came compete with the even better B-side in our opinion, Dancing With Daisy - a song that tells a heartfelt story that foreshadowed The Islas upcoming release Last Time Forever.
Said Sara is the brainchild of veteran musician Dave Benson. The new single, I Star As You, is out now on all major streaming platforms plus a stunning lyric video has also been created for the song, available to view on Youtube here.
The Reytons are our Single Of The Week - who else? Shoebox shows a mature side to the band who usually pump out Arctic Monkeys indie bangers. The song is delivered in their unmistakable gritty twang yet is drenched in emotion. Look in the dictionary for ‘indie anthem’ and Shoebox will start playing. A band that are surely on the cusp of being recognised as the leaders of UK indie rock, Shoebox is simply an incredible song. We say this despite The Reytons being too cool to acknowledge Our Sound over the months but, well, who the hell cares. We will always come back for more. LISTEN.
