LA band Jimkata are set to release their new album Bonfires early next year and have this week released the lead track Weight Of Paradise from the album as a single with an accompanying engrossing video.
In a strong week for releases it is Northern Revelation who give us our final Single Of The Week for October with new single History. Hailing from Preston, there’s a very obvious northern indie lad vibe throughout and we love it. They don’t reinvent the wheel on this and the Shed 7 influence is clear to see which makes History all the more endearing. For a new band seemingly doing things on their own this is well produced. The guitar solo is blinding and vocalist Darrel has one of those voices you want to hear more of. Northern Revelation remind me of Northern Uproar; the whole vibe , sound and attitude is so similar, which is a huge compliment. Stream now.
Ed Cosens has released a perfect first single in If with a dramatic video to boot. The Reverend & The Makers guitarist showcases his fine songwriting talent here on a song which is part one of a four part story.

This Friday York lads Skylights release their second physical single. Darkness Falls on label 42s Records. The Manchester label also boasts a stable of other exciting bands including Reclaim Vienna and Shader, and this latest release from Skylights will be available on vinyl and four track CD.
CREATION DAY, a new music festival curated by the legendary Alan McGee has been announced for May 2021, taking place 29th-30th May at West Park, Wolverhampton.
Hot Money by Children Of The State is the first release from the band's upcoming Tragic Carpet EP. Now based in Manchester, Hot Money was produced by The Coral’s Ian Skelly and is immediately gratifying. With shades of INXS, there is a huge sound here pulled along by a riff and bassline that is digging into my brain as I type. A must listen. Hot Money is our Single of The Week and easily so, with fuzzy guitars and a pumping beat. The band have landed slots at Tramlines and Our Sound backed YANA Fest as well as previously selling out The Leadmill. With releases like this, the future is very bright indeed for Children Of The State. Stream here.

Since we started Our Sound in June there has been a band who we discovered around that time and who have had a steady stream of solid releases since - the endearingly named Tropical Boyfriend Catalogue. Next Friday the London quartet release a new single, I Can Run Faster Than Your Car.
